Henry Sibley Boys in Art Room Picture The School District 197 Buildings and Grounds Office is committed to providing students and staff with a safe, clean and comfortable environment. 

The Buildings and Grounds Office oversees the management of new construction, building renovations and maintenance of building envelopes and mechanical systems for the district's eight school buildings and transportation facility.

The district's 964,972 square feet is cleaned and maintained by a caring and dedicated custodial and maintenance staff. The department also maintains approximately 200 acres of grounds throughout the district with a dedicated grounds maintenance staff. Duties of the grounds staff include landscape projects, athletic field maintenance and snow removal. 

Other areas of responsibility within the department include Health and Safety management, which includes OSHA compliance, indoor air quality, asbestos management, fire and security systems.
